South Africa cannot be captured in a single trip. The country is forty times the size of Belgium and holds just as many worlds within its borders: a cosmopolitan city at the foot of Table Mountain, wine valleys that rival Provence, a coastline where whales parade, an interior where lions and elephants roam across the wilderness, and a history that still shapes the country today.
That history is not one to skip. The scars of apartheid, the system of racial segregation that governed daily life until 1994, are still felt in the cities, the museums and the stories of the guides you meet along the way. But what stands out today is resilience. South Africa calls itself the “Rainbow Nation” for good reason: a country that faces its painful past head-on while still finding a way to celebrate who it is today. That tension between hardship and resilience gives every journey through South Africa a depth you rarely find elsewhere.
Precisely because the country is so vast and varied, what follows below is only a glimpse of everything it has to offer. There is so much more to discover. Cape Town — Buzzing at the foot of Table Mountain
Cape Town is a modern, vibrant city nestled between the ocean and Table Mountain, with neighbourhoods full of design shops, galleries and one of the best restaurant scenes in the southern hemisphere. The city has the energy of a world capital, yet with the sea and mountains within walking distance. That combination of urban energy and striking nature right in the heart of the city is what makes Cape Town unique.
Table Mountain is, of course, the city’s calling card. To avoid losing precious holiday time queuing, we arrange a fast-track ticket for the cable car. For the more adventurous among our travellers, we’re happy to suggest an alternative: hike up along one of the many challenging trails and take the cable car down. That way you enjoy both the effort and the view.

Cape of Good Hope & Chapman’s Peak Drive
Where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet lies the Cape of Good Hope: rugged cliffs, wild beaches and views that will stop you in your tracks more than once. Along the way you’ll drive Chapman’s Peak Drive, a coastal road regularly named one of the most beautiful routes in the world. Every bend opens up a new panorama over the ocean, hundreds of metres below.

We let you experience part of this route from a motorcycle with sidecar, driven for you. The wind in your face, the ocean by your side, no glass between you and the landscape. A completely different way to experience this iconic road than from a rental car or minibus.
The Winelands — French flair under the Cape sun
Half an hour outside Cape Town, the landscape changes completely: rolling vineyards, whitewashed Cape Dutch manor houses and mountains as a backdrop. The region rivals Provence in beauty, but has a trump card of its own: MCC, the ‘Méthode Cap Classique’, the local sparkling wine made the same way as champagne, which never fails to surprise the connoisseurs among our travellers.
The Winelands are not one homogeneous whole: each valley has its own character. Stellenbosch is the oldest and most classic wine region, with centuries-old oak-lined avenues, prestigious estates and a university town full of terraces that gives the whole a lively, youthful edge. This is where you taste South Africa’s finest red wines, such as Pinotage, a grape variety the country developed itself. Franschhoek, by contrast, is smaller, more intimate and distinctly French in atmosphere. No coincidence, as the valley was founded by French Huguenots who brought their winemaking tradition with them. This is, above all, the region for MCC and culinary indulgence, with a concentration of gourmet restaurants you won’t find anywhere else in the country. Paarl, finally, is rougher and less touristy, with larger, more expansive estates and a rural calm that offers a nice counterbalance to the buzz of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. For travellers who really want to get to know the Winelands, we often combine all three in a single route, each for half a day or a full day, so you taste the full spectrum.

We take you aboard the Franschhoek Wine Tram, which carries you from estate to estate through the valley. Along the way we stop at Grande Provence for a refined tasting of oysters paired with MCC. An afternoon that combines slowness, indulgence and beauty perfectly.
The Garden Route — South Africa’s greenest side
The Garden Route strings together some of South Africa’s most beautiful natural moments: whales surfacing close to the coast, penguins waddling freely on the beach, kayaking between lagoons and cliffs. For travellers with less time, this is also an excellent chance to get an early taste of South African wildlife: small-scale safari reserves line the route, where you can spot the Big Five without needing to fly to the real safari region.

We let you discover the Garden Route from the water, with a private kayak trip through the Storms River Gorge in the Tsitsikamma section. You paddle into a narrow, deep gorge where the rock walls close in high above your head and the water is crystal clear. The final stretch takes you under an old suspension bridge, until you stop at a hidden waterfall where you can swim. No engine noise, no other boats, just the sound of your paddle and the water against the rocks.
The Panorama Route — Views that take your breath away
Anyone who thinks Table Mountain can’t be topped hasn’t seen the Panorama Route yet. This route along the edge of the Drakensberg escarpment takes you past some of the country’s most striking viewpoints: God’s Window, where the plain disappears hundreds of metres below your feet into the mist, the Bourke’s Luck Potholes, and the immense Blyde River Canyon, one of the largest canyons in the world and, at the same time, one of the greenest. This is South Africa at its most overwhelming.

We choose a hot air balloon flight at sunrise. You float silently over the Lowveld, with the steep escarpment and the edge of the Blyde River Canyon as a backdrop in the distance, as the sun rises over the plain. After landing, a champagne breakfast under the open sky follows, as tradition dictates.
Safari — Face to face with the Big Five
When it comes to safari, we deliberately look beyond Kruger National Park itself. It’s beautiful, but also heavily visited, with plenty of traffic on the paved roads and an experience that can feel shared. We choose the private reserves surrounding Kruger instead: small-scale, exclusive, and with guides who know the terrain and the animals inside out. Off-road driving, getting closer to the animals, and returning each evening to a lodge where luxury and wilderness meet seamlessly. South Africa also offers other wonderful alternatives, such as the Wetlands, where you can go on a boat safari, a completely different experience from a 4×4 game drive. From the water you get close to hippos and crocodiles and see the rich birdlife up close, in complete calm and without any dust. Or Hluhluwe-iMfolozi, the oldest nature reserve in Africa. Nowhere else in South Africa will you find such a high density of wildlife, set in a landscape of rolling hills that is worth the trip on its own.
